#15: Tyler Parsons

Position: Goalie

Age: 20

Team: Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL)

Drafted in 2016, 2nd Round, Pick 54

Last Year Ranking: #8

Voting Points: 1669

It’s somewhat surprising to see Tyler Parsons drop as much as he did in our rankings this year. His fall of seven spots may not be as much of an indication of his play, rather is an indication of the solid year that other prospects had.

Parsons spent his first year of pro hockey primarily with the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL, with a few brief stints in Stockton as well. Parsons also had some injury issues through the season which limited his playing time.

While his numbers don’t look great, the important thing is that he was consistently starting games while he was healthy and continued to improve as a result. His season actually started out pretty rough as he adjusted to the pro-game but finished with a solid second half of the year.

Goaltenders often develop at very different paces, and Parsons is still working his way up as the Flames goalie of the future. Ideally for 2018-19 he’ll be getting a big role with the Stockton Heat so that he can continue his development at the next level.
