#23: Ryan Lomberg

Position: Left Wing

Age: 23

Team: Stockton heat (AHL)

Undrafted

Voting Points: 415

Admit it, you were excited and intrigued when the Flames called Lomberg up last season. He came as advertised and did what he was supposed to do: bring energy, get in the corners and well, fight. Lomberg saw 7 games with Calgary last year, notching his first NHL point (an assist) and collecting 15 PIM.

Lomberg seems like he’ll be stuck in the call up rotation when there’s an injury or if the Flames are desperetly lacking some “punch.” He finished the 2017-18 season in Stockton with 28 points in 57 games with a whopping 110 PIM, but I’d be lying if I said he will be playing for a roster spot this summer. Lomberg COULD help replace some of the grit the Flames lost in the Micheal Ferland trade, but in the end the clock is ticking. He’s 23 years old (signed through 2018-19) and if he doesn’t develop the offensive side of his game he’ll end up a fan favourite/cult hero that won’t spend much time with the Flames.
