Calgary Flames Qualify Nine Players

The Flames sent out their round of qualifying offers today, qualifying 9 of the 14 players who were pending RFA’s .

The list of qualified players includes:

• Jon Gillies (G)
• David Rittich (G)
• Noah Hanifin (D)
• Brett Kulak (D)
• Garnet Hathaway (RW)
• Elias Lindholm (RW)
• Mark Jankowski (C)
• Morgan Klimchuk (LW)
• Hunter Shinkaruk (LW)

The unqualified and now UFA players are:

• Austin Carroll (RW)
• Hunter Smith (RW)
• Daniel Pribyl (C)
• Nick Shore (C)
• Emile Poirier (LW)

It was somewhat surprising to see Shore not qualified but he could easily still come back next season.

It was quite disappointing to see that the Flames seem to be cutting ties with 2013 1st round pick Emile Poirier and 2014 2nd round pick Hunter Smith. Those were two big swings and two big misses.
