The offseason is offcially underway as the Flames made a pair of minor signings today of two European players. The first was German forward Yasin Ehliz and the second was Swedish defenceman Marcus Hogstrom.

Ehliz is 25 years of age and picked up 31 points in 46 games last year for Nuermburg of the DEL. In 2016-17 he had 48 points in 51 games for Nuermburg.

He also suited up in the Olympics where he had three points in seven games for the German team that won silver. He finished the year the IIHF World Championships where he had five points in seven games.

For the time being, Ehliz looks like an option for the AHL, but you never know how he could progress.

Hogstrom is 29 years old and most recently played for Djurgardens of the SHL. Last year Hogstrom had 3 goals and 20 assists in 50 games. He’s likely another AHL option for the time being.
