He struggled to make much of an impact in his first full year in Calgary

Individual Grades

MarkParkinson14: (D) Lazar is another one of those players with a lofty draft status, but minimal to nothing in return. Calgary gave up a second round pick for Lazar and he has yet to perform. His 12 points were the third highest totals of his career and that’s not something you brag about. Lazar showed flashes at times, but never anything consistent enough to make you think he was ready to go to that next level.

MGMacGillivray: (D) I held out a lot of hope for Lazar to take some sort of step forward but he simply didn’t. He would have a rare game where he’d look really good but the rest of the time he’d be pretty unnoticeable. I had some hope last year that this trade could work out, but now it looks like an absolute steal for the Sens. Keep him as a 13th forward next year I guess, but I think we know what the Flames have here.

MilhouseFirehouse: (D) It’s hard not to like Curtis Lazar, the dude. It’s much harder not to dislike Curtis Lazar, the player. Smilin’ Curt’s flashes of contribution are there, but they are so few are far between that they might as well not be. At times he seemed like he was in the right places and could’ve seen quite a few more goals than the miniscule 2 he posted on the campaign, but that’s easily lost in the sea of mediocre outings he had. He might find a regular spot in the bottom six if he can take the right steps forward, but that’s looking like a big if heading into his second full campaign with the club.
