The Flames final home game of 2017-18 sees the Pacific Division Champion Golden Knights visit the Saddledome to close out the season. The Flames have dropped 9 out of their last 10 and they’ve dropped all 3 games against the expansion Golden Knights. Calgary’s abysmal home record 16-20-4 and Vegas won’t make this easy, even if they’ve already clinched the division. The Golden Knights are 22-13-5 on the road this season, including a 4-2 win at the Saddledome on January 30th. The last time these two meet William Karlsson collected a hat trick in an 8 minute span of the 2nd period and sunk the Flames 4-0.
Calgary can’t score 5 v 5. Calgary can’t score on the PP. This game is an excruciating exercise in futility to end the season. Don’t expect much from the home team tonight as they packed it in and quit a month ago. All that’s left is the HOPE of a respectable end to 2017-18 season.

Johnny Gaudreau (F). It’s been a frustrating end of the season for Johnny Gaudreau. He lost his top line mate in Sean Monahan, his father had a major medical scare and the Flames have just been terrible all around. Gaudreau hasn’t scored since March 16th and he’s one assist shy of 60, which would make him the first Flame since Theo Fleury to collect 60 helpers. Maybe he can close out the season with one point and at least give the fan something to cheer for?

William Karlsson (C). The 25 year old native of Sweden has had a career resurrection since coming to Vegas. He has 78 points this season, 43 of those points are goals. His previous career high was 25 points TOTAL in 81 games last season with Columbus. He has 9 points in his last 5 games and he had a hat trick the last time he played the Flames.
