The off season changes just keep coming to the Flames staff. The Flames announced this afternoon that Brian Burke will “step away” from the Flames and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation on May 1st.

Burke entered the fold with Calgary back in 2013 and was know for his un-kept ties, slicked back white hair and his love of “truculence.” More recently however, Burke has found the media spotlight in regards to the Flames ongoing arena issues with the city of Calgary. Burke flat out said at one point if the Flames didn’t get a new arena, they would move, a statement that didn’t sit well with those in much higher chairs in the organization than Burke.

It remains to be seen who will fill Burke’s position within the organization, but this another domino that fell during what will prove to be an interesting off season for the Flames.
