A win would mean the season series for the Flames and they’d close a bit of the gap in the West. A loss means golf.

Calgary Flames vs Anaheim Ducks, 7:30 PM MT, Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary AB

The Flames return home for 1 game as they welcome the Anaheim Ducks to the Saddledome Wednesday night. The Flames have all but removed themselves from the playoffs with their play as of late and while they keep talking the talk, they’re playing for pride. Calgary is 6 points out of the last Wild Card spot, which is owned by…….the Anaheim Ducks. The Flames have dropped 3 in a row and 6 of their last 9, so if you’re holding your breath waiting for the playoff run, we’ll call for help for you.

Anaheim meanwhile is hanging on to the 8th spot in the West and if you think about the amount of injuries they started the season with, it’s impressive that they’re in the position they are in. March is the third month of the year and it’s been a month of 3’s for the Ducks: 3 straight wins, 3 straight losses, 3 straight wins. In their 6 wins this month they’ve outscored their opponents 25-9.

The Flames and Ducks have met 3 times this season with Calgary taking 2 out of the 3. Calgary’s struggles against the Ducks in Anaheim are WELL documented, but the Saddledome hasn’t been home sweet home for the Flames either. Calgary is 2-4-0 in their last 6 against Anaheim at home.
