The Calgary Flames trip across the New York metropolitan area continues tonight as they take on the New York Rangers. The Flames are playing on back-to-back nights while the Rangers are rested, but also the Rangers are the Rangers. They've had a disastrous season and sent an e-mail to their fans letting them know that they're blowing up the roster, so this one is a hard one to gauge.

The Rangers are dead last in Corsi, Fenwick, and shot ratio while the Flames have been stellar in that category. One of the Flames most negative players in that category, Troy Brouwer, is out for the next ten days with a facial fracture. The Rangers do have superior special teams, but if the Flames stay out of the box then there's a good chance they can come away with this one despite the schedule makers working against them.

Curtis Lazar is back in tonight in place of the injured Brouwer. Mike Smith will get the start tonight as the Flames do the smart thing and avoid playing the same goalie on back-to-back nights. He'll be up agianst Ondrej Pavelec for the Rangers.
