Flames Pick Up Chris Stewart on Waivers

The Flames added to their squad today via waivers

NHL: Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild Harrison Barden-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames made their first move of deadline day by plucking Chris Stewart off waivers from the Minnesota Wild.

Stewart has 9 goals and 4 assists in 47 games this season, playing primarily on the fourth line in Minnesota. With the costs of other players being rather high at this year’s deadline, the Flames chose to pick up Stewart for no cost other than a roster spot.

He’ll likely slot somewhere in the bottom six and provides an additional right shot that the team is craving. This may very well be their only move today but we’ll see what happens.

The Flames will be Stewart’s sixth NHL team after previously spending time with the Avalanche, Blues, Sabres, Ducks, and Wild.
