Calgary Flames 3 Chicago Blackhawks 2
The Flames kept the 3rd period, good time vibes going, but in a different manner. The Flames kept the puck out of the net instead of scoring thanks to Mike Smith’s stellar goaltending. Calgary didn’t need to score or come from behind, mainly due to Smith’s solid play all game long, but especially in the 3rd. Here’s the rest of the best of what wasn’t covered in the recap or Rate The Flames.
Tidbits
-2 Time Offenders: Chris Kunitz got the gate tonight for a 10 minute game misconduct for his elbow to Travis Hamonic at 7:08 of the second period. This is the second straight game where a Chicago Blackhawks player has been tossed for a questionable hit on a Flames player. Duncan Keith owns the honour of taking out Dillon Dube in the first meeting between these two teams and getting the gate then.
-7 In A Row: The Flames extended Chicago’s streak of not having a lead in a game to 7 straight.
-Top 30: Elias Lindholm had a 2 point night. Johnny Gaudreau had a 2 point night. Sean Monahan had a goal. The 2 points from Lindholm pushed him to 30th in the league in points, which gives Calgary 4 players (Tkachuk is the other) in the Top 30. No other team has more than 3.
