NHL Standings

The Flames welcome the St. Louis Blues to the Saddledome for their final game before the Christmas break. The Flames and Blues played each other last Sunday with Calgary rolling over St. Louis 7-2. Oddly enough that was the last time Calgary won. The Fames are mired in a two game losing streak, falling to the Stars and Lightning this past week. The losses sting, but the Flames aren’t playing poorly at all. Calgary was just outmuscled against Dallas and they were able to come away with a point after hanging with the NHL’s best team in the Tampa Bay Lightning.

St. Louis meanwhile is playing average hockey as of late. They’ve won three out of their last five and have split so far on their trip through Western Canada, beating Edmonton and losing to Vancouver. Where the Blues have been struggling is with scoring. St. Louis is 26th in the league in scoring, 22nd in shots per game and their power play is middle of the road at 14th in league.
