Wow, that’s all that can really be said. The Flames rode a four goal first period to a comfortable 7-2 victory over the St.Louis Blues. While the Blues have struggled this year, they’ve traditionally been a team that’s had Calgary’s number, so it was nice to smack them around a bit.
Calgary jumped right into things early with Matthew Tkachuk opening the scoring by potting his own rebound on the powerplay.
Shortly after Elias Lindholm would make a great individual effort with the team shorthanded, outworking Colton Parayko and beat Jake Allen on a breakaway.
Mark Giordano and Alan Quine would also score in the first period as Calgary headed to the intermission up 4-0. Johnny Gaudreau would also score a pair in the game before Quine would tally his second of the night on a late powerplay.
David Rittich made 26 saves on 28 shots with a solid performance despite playing his second game in two days.
The Flames move to 22-10-1 on the year, and sit 1st in the Western Conference again for the time being.
