Calgary Flames 2 Minnesota Wild 1

You just had the feeling this game was going to be a little rough and it did not disappoint (36 penalty minutes in the first period). The Flames took down the Wild for the second time this season by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. David Rittich was solid in net as usual for the Flames, stopping 34 of the 35 shots that came his way to earn his 10th victory of the season. Here’s the rest of the best that wasn’t covered in our recap/RTF.

NHL Standings

Tidbits

-Gio Rolling: The Captain scored his 5th goal of the year giving him 33 points on the season. His goal at 12:03 of the first period was also short handed, which was the second game in a row he scored a shortie. He’s also has 9 points in his last 5 games.

-Hi, I’m Chucky. Wanna Play?: Matthew Tkachuk scored the GWG yesterday giving him 6 points in his last 4 games. He’s now tied with Sean Monahan for 17th in the NHL with 38 points.

-You Gotta Fight!: We haven’t seen the Flames duke it out like that in a long time. Matthew Tkachuk, Mark Giordano and Sam Bennett all had first period fights yesterday, collecting 15 minutes in fighting majors in the opening 20 minutes. We think the message was sent.
