The Morning After LA: Limit The Shots, Limit The Goals

This version of the Flames is far and ahead better than the 2017-18 version.

NHL: Los Angeles Kings at Calgary Flames Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

Calgary Flames 4 LA Kings 1

It took some time, but the Flames got the job done last night and collected 2 more points within the division. Calgary only managed 1 goal through the first 40 minutes (and that came :36 seconds in), but 3 third period goals were enough to sink a Kings team with ZERO offence. Here’s the rest of the best of what wasn’t covered in the recap or Rate The Flames.

Tidbits

-Lack ‘O: The Kings are 30th in the NHL with 27.6 SF, just one spot ahead of the last place Anaheim Ducks. Last night Calgary held the offensively challenged Kings to a paltry 14 SOG.

-No Ilya: Ilya Kovalchuk was scratched last night for LA and his presence wasn’t really missed. The NHL vet was brought in to bolster the Kings offence, yet he’s pointless in 11 straight.

-What A Difference!: The current version of the Flames are 15-9-2 on the season and in 1st place in the Pacific. At this exact date last year the Flames were 13-12-3.
