The Calgary Flames entered the third period in familiar position, trailing the Anaheim Ducks by a single goal. Calgary was able to tie up the game with a shorthanded goal from Mark Jankowski but the Ducks would respond just 27 seconds later with Ryan Getzlaf making it 3-2, which would be the final scoreline.
Calgary found themselves in a 2-0 hole after two relatively weak goals in the first period, one long shot with no traffic from Jakob Silfverberg that trickled in, and a huge rebound that Adam Henrique would deposit. Matthew Tkachuk narrowed it to one goal with a deflection late in the period.
