The Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings met in an uncomfortably slow battle on Friday night. The Flames limited the Kings to only 14 shots in entire game, while directing 37 of their own at Cal Petersen.
The Flames took a 1-0 lead just 36 seconds into the game with Mikael Backlund scoring on a distance shot. From there the game would really slow down, but the Kings would eventually tie it in the second of the stick of Adrian Kempe.
Johnny Gaudreau, who hit three posts earlier in the game would finally bury one on the powerplay to give the Flames the 2-1 lead. Calgary would ice it with two empty netters from Backlund and Sean Monahan to emerge victorious.
