Another night where the Flames entered the third period trailing. This time it wasn’t by three goals like last game, but it was still a deficit they had to make. Calgary had controlled most of the play late in the second, but Chicago had really limited the Flames chances to score. After a couple glorious chances which Elias Lindholm couldn’t convert on, it was Sean Monahan tying the game with his second of the night.
Michael Frolik gave the Flames the lead shortly after with a flukey goal where the puck banked in from behind the net, but it’s still a goal. The Flames would be challenged to kill one last penalty late, but they’d get an empty net shorthanded goal and ice the game away.
A dominant performance by the Flames where they outshoot Chicago 41-15, including 20-4 in the third period.
