The Calgary Flames came into Arizona, looking to offset the sting of Friday’s loss in Vegas with a victory. They did just that as they throttled the Coyotes by the final score of 6-1.

The Flames got three shorthanded goals in the game, and were led by their foot soldiers rather than their big guns in the victory.

Sean Monahan opened the scoring with a nice feed from Johnny Gaudreau. Noah Hanifin then scored his first goal as a Flame to make it 2-0 after the first period.

A scary incident happened in the second period as Bill Peters was hit in the head by a puck that was cleared into the bench, resulting him falling to ground and eventually heading down the tunnel. He returned late in the period sporting eight or nine stitches across his jaw.

While he was away Hanifin added his second goal of the night, and Mark Jankowski got one as well to make it 4-0.

On the same penalty kill in the third, T.J. Brodie would score followed in short order by Mark Jankowski who got his second goal of the game. Arizona would get one late, to make it 6-1.

Mike Smith had a nice confidence boosting game, and while he wasn’t overly tested, still made a handful of really nice saves.
