Thoughts:

The Flames got off to a good start in the first period after Sean Monahan almost ending the scoreless game with a great opportunity from Tkachuk in the slot. Fleury made a terrific save on his way to a shutout. As for the defense, there wasn’t much there. Hanifin looked completely disinterested on the first goal of the game. He left the post to guard the slot, leaving Alex Tuch completely alone with Rittich. Not much David can do there that close on a 1-on-1. The same thing happened with the Colin Miller PP goal. No one cleared the crease, leaving a Golden Knight completely screening Rittich. Speaking of Rittich, he played very well, he just didn’t have much help. He had a terrific glove save on Knights defenseman Shea Theodore in the slot. The Flames are back at it Sunday, for a matinee game against the Yotes in Arizona.
