Calgary Flames at Vegas Golden Knights [Game 23]

Published

on

The first place Calgary Flames head to Nevada to take on the reigning Western Conference Champion Vegas Golden Knights in an effort to expand upon their lead over the rest of the Pacific. This isn’t a fluke – the Flames finally have the final piece of the puzzle, quality goaltending, and have had everything else clicking and deserve to be atop the division. The Golden Knights have been snakebitten with the leagues worse delta PDO and are in fifth place in the division because of it.

Much of the Flames success has come thanks to finally getting one of their netminding prospects to pan out. 26 year old undrafted rookie David Rittich has the league’s second best delta save percentage and has energized the fan base and the team alike. It’s much deserved for a team which has seen second and third round prospects flame out due to injuries and illnesses.

Michael Frolik was placed on injury which means that Austin Czarnik gets the chance to return to the lineup. Czarnik has been pretty good and it’s bewildering why he isn’t a permanent fixture in the Flames bottom six. Oliver Kylington and Ryan Lomberg were recalled earlier and will be healthy scratches.

Today’s puck drop is at 4:00 P.M. M.S.T.
