Rate the Flames (6) vs Jets (3): More First Period Magic

The Flames rolled early again

For the second straight game, the Calgary Flames scored five first period goals, and rode that to a 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

The Flames were led by their offense early but the credit has to go to David Rittich for an absolutely outstanding night in the crease yet again. He finished with 37 saves on 40 shots, and couldn’t be faulted for any of the three goals against.

Dillon Dube scored his first NHL goal to open the Flames scoring, then followed in order by Sam Bennett, Matthew Tkachuk, Mark Jankowski, and Johnny Gaudreau to round out the first with a 5-1 lead.

The Jets would battle back with two Patrik Laine goals to make it 5-3, but Derek Ryan would seal it with an empty netter.

Sam Bennett had a fantastic night, scoring his second goal in as many games, and making some huge plays for the team including a block that briefly sent him to the dressing room.
