Rate the Flames (6) vs Avalanche (5): Colorado Comeback

Calgary pulled off their best third period in years

NHL: Colorado Avalanche at Calgary Flames Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

Wow. That’s really all can be said. The Flames were on the verge of being written off after Mike Smith struggled in the second period, heading to the locker room down 4-1. A Sam Bennett fight late in the second seemed to ignite the team as the comeback started early in the third.

Elias Lindholm hammered home his ninth (!!!) of the campaign to make it 4-2. Then it short order, Sean Monahan and James Neal scored to tie the game. Mark Giordano put the Flames up with his third point of the night, and Michael Frolik gave some insurance. It was a fantastic comeback by a team who has already shown tons of resilience in the third period this year.
