Calgary Flames 2 Buffalo Sabres 1 (OT)
Whew! It took the Flames long enough to crack the Sabres, but they did it in spectacular fashion Tuesday night. Calgary got a late (19:04) third period marker from Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau scored the OT winner to give the Flames a 2-1 victory over the host Buffalo Sabres. Here’s the rest of the best that wasn’t covered in the recap or Rate The Flames.
Tidbits
-Tip Your Cap: You have to give credit where credit is due and Carter Hutton played lights out for Buffalo. Hutton faced 38 shots for the second time in 2 weeks and even though he took the loss he was nearly unbeatable. Prior to the contest with the Flames he’s given up 13 goals in his last 3 losses.
-PP Woes A’Plenty: Calgary went 0-5 on the PP last night and only managed 7 shots with an extra skater on the ice. How does that happen?
-Frolik Fading: Despite scoring an empty net goal on Monday, Frolik saw his minutes disappear against the Sabres. The NHL vet saw only 8:36 of ice time Tuesday night, which was the lowest of any Flames skater. Are we heading back towards healthy scratch territory?
