Calgary Flames 3 Colorado Avalanche 2 (OT)

It wasn’t a good start for the Flames, but they managed to pull out a 3-2 victory over the Central Division leading Colorado Avalanche Saturday night in Denver. The Flames got stellar goaltending from David Rittich and they once again potted some late game magic to seal the deal. Johnny Gaudreau scored the game winner in OT and the Flames erased a fairly bad start to collect their 3rd victory of the season.

Tidbits

-First Goal: Sam Bennett pumped in his goal of the season after playing really well on the Flames 3 game road trip.

-First Win: David Rittich was victimized by the Flames poor defence in the first 3 minutes of the game, but he held his ground the rest of the way, stopping 24 of the 26 shots he faced to get his first win of the season.

-Fastest Goal: Nathan MacKinnon scored with only 11 seconds off the clock last night, making it the fastest goal scored in the NHL this season. Previous fastest goal? Elias Lindholm of the Flames against Vancouver, only 12 seconds into the Flames 7-4 victory.

-Fear The Third?: The Flame scored their 10th 3rd period goal last night, which is tops in the NHL.
