Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau and netminder Mike Smith were pretty good last week and the NHL honored the two players today in their 3 Stars Of the Week.

Gaudreau and Smith ranked #1 and #2 ahead of Pittsburgh’s Phil Kessel in today’s announcement. This past week Gaudreau put the NHL on notice that his little slump was nothing more than that: short lived. The Flames speedster had 8 points in Calgary’s 4 games last week, giving him 54 on the season and making him #2 overall in the NHL in points.
Mike Smith meanwhile continues to be a rock for the Flames. He started 3 of the 4 games Calgary played, won all 3 and gave up only 4 goals on the week. The Flames back stop didn’t have it easy either as he had to take down Minnesota, Tampa Bay and lastly the Carolina Hurricanes. Smith stared down 108 shots this week and stopped an astounding 104 of them. He improved to 20-13-3 on the season with a GAA of 2.46 and a Save % of .924.
