Preseason 5/7: Flames at Jets Preview & Lineup

The Flames head to Manitoba tonight

NHL: Preseason-Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

The Flames will heading to Winnipeg tonight for a preseason date with the Jets. Calgary is coming off their first victory of the preseason which was a strong 4-2 victory over the Coyotes. The Jets meanwhile are still looking for their first win of the preseason as they sit at 0-3-1. The Jets last game was a 6-2 loss against Edmonton.

Sean Monahan and Matthew Tkachuk will return to the lineup tonight for the Flames but that’s about it for regulars that the Flames will be dressing. The Jets meanwhile will be dressing a lineup that will look pretty close to their opening day lineup, so don’t be surprised if its a blowout tonight.

Eddie Lack will get his second start of the preseason for the Flames while Steve Mason counters for the Jets.

3 Things to Watch vs Winnipeg

  1. Sean Monahan & Matthew Tkachuk: Tkachuk will be making his preseason debut alongside Monahan tonight. With Sam Bennett having a strong showing alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Micheal Ferland a few nights ago, if these two show chemistry it could open up some debate to potentially pairing them together in the future if Glen Gulutzan decides to juggle his lineup.
  2. Mark Jankowski: He continues to thrive with every challenge presented to him thus far in the preseason and with every passing game he looks closer to making the final squad. Has scored in three straight games and will be looking for a fourth tonight.
  3. All the bubble players: It is very likely that this is the last chance for the majority of bubble players to impress before the final preseason games which will be a tuneup for regulars.

Puck drop is at 6:00 pm MT from Winnipeg.
