Brian Elliott to sign with Philadelphia Flyers

As many Flames fans would agree, I am not sad to see Elliott leave Calgary. After an extremely disappointing and brief playoff run, it was clear Elliott would not be returning to the Flames roster.

Elliott was traded to Calgary with one year remaining on his three year contract from the St. Louis Blues. Elliott brought a lot of optimism with him at the start of the 2016-17 season, many believing he would help the Flames get into a deep playoff run. Instead, Elliott struggled early on in the season, giving the starting job to Chad Johnson. He finished with the Flames with a 2.55 GAA and .910 save percentage, after beginning the season with a 3.31 GAA and a .885 save percentage.

According to SB Nation’s own Broad Street Hockey, this Saturday Elliott will sign a 2-year ,$5.5 million contract with the Flyers. The Flyers also had underwhelming goaltending this past season and have been looking for replacements.

Good luck to you, Philly.
