Calgary Flames 2017-18 Schedule Unveiled

The NHL released schedules of all 31 teams today

The countdown can officially begin as the NHL released schedules for all teams for the 2017-18 season on Thursday.

The Calgary Flames will be opening their season on October 4th when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers. Calgary will then have their home opener on October 7th against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Flames will play the Vegas Golden Knights for the first time on January 30th. The Flames will make their first trip to Vegas on February 21.

Here’s a rundown of the Flames divisional matchups this season:

Anaheim Ducks: Oct 9 at ANA, Dec 29 at ANA, Jan 6 vs ANA, Mar 21 vs ANA

Arizona Coyotes: Nov 30 vs ARI, Feb 22 at ARI, Mar 19 at ARI, Apr 3 vs ARI

Edmonton Oilers: Oct 4 at EDM, Dec 2 vs EDM, Jan 25 at EDM, Mar 13 vs EDM, Mar 31 vs EDM

Los Angeles Kings: Oct 11 at LA, Jan 4 vs LA, Jan 24 vs LA, Mar 26 at LA

San Jose Sharks: Dec 14 vs SJ, Dec 28 at SJ, Mar 16 vs SJ, Mar 24 at SJ

Vancouver Canucks: Oct 14 at VAN, Nov 7 vs VAN, Dec 9 vs VAN, Dec 17 at VAN

Vegas Golden Knights: Jan 30 vs LV, Feb 21 at LV, Mar 18 at LV, Apr 7 vs LV

Here are some other highlights of the season:

  • The Flames finish their season with 10 of their final 12 games within their division.
  • The Flames longest road trips of the season are six games which happens twice (Nov 13 - Nov 25) and (Feb 6 - Feb 15)
  • The longest homestand of the season is a seven game homestand from Oct 27 to Nov 13
  • Calgary will play each divisional team four times with the exception of Edmonton who the Flames will play five times and host three of those games.
  • The Flames will play 12 back-to-back games this season
  • The reigning Stanley Cup Champs will be in town on November 2nd
  • Calgary will host Chicago on New Year’s Eve
  • The Flames are scheduled to host THREE afternoon games this season starting with WPG on Saturday January 20, BOS on Monday February 19, and COL on Sunday February 24.
  • Against Eastern Canadian Teams: Oct 13 vs OTT, Nov 28 vs TOR, Dec 6 at TOR, Dec 7 at MTL, Dec 22 vs MTL, Mar 9 at OTT
  • The season concludes on April 7 against the Golden Knights
