Johnny Gaudreau has always been known for his on ice skills with the puck, but now he’s been recognized for his sportsmanlike qualities as well. Tonight at the 2017 NHL Awards in Las Vegas Gaudreau took home the Lady Byng Trophy. The Lady Byng is awarded each year to “the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.” It would be hard to argue that Gaudreau doesn’t fit that description.
The other two finalists for the Lady Byng this year were Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues and Mikael Granlund of the Minnesota Wild.
