2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round: Calgary Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

The Flames and the Ducks will square off in a best of 7 series starting Thursday night in Anaheim at Honda Center. The two teams met 5 times during the regular season, with the Ducks winning 4 out of 5. Per usual, Calgary lost both contests in Anaheim, something the Flames have been doing since 2006. We’re not going to dwell on Calgary’s struggles (27 straight loses in Anaheim) because they’ve been well documented. What will make this series INCREDIBLY interesting will be the last tilt between these two. What appeared to be an unintentional knee on knee hit between Mark Giordano and Cam Folwer sparked a penalty filled third period that derailed what was an exciting game between two division rivals. The Ducks won the Pacific Division Sunday night, setting up a battle between these two in the first round of the playoffs. But enough with the prologue, here’s the preview for what should be a very entertaining playoff series.
