The Calgary Flames are definitely going to be finishing in a Wild Card position, although it is still unclear which one. The Nashville Predators are tied in points right now with the Flames in the Wild Card spots, and both have one game left. Those games will decide if they stay with the Flames in the top Wild Card spot, or they flip and the Flames go to the Bottom Wild Card spot.
The Pacific Division has yet to be decided yet either. Currently the Anaheim Ducks sit on top with 103 points and the Oilers in 2nd with 99 points and San Jose Sharks in 3rd with 97. The Ducks only have one game left while the Oilers have two, so technically, the Oilers could still flip with the Ducks if they win both of their games and the Ducks lose.
So here is how things could go:
If Nashville wins and Calgary loses Calgary will play the Chicago Blackhawks.
If Calgary wins, it doesn’t matter what Nashville does, but then we will have to wait until the Ducks/Oilers battle settles. If Anaheim just gets one measly point, then the Flames would play the Ducks. If the Oilers win both games and Anaheim loses their game, the Flames would play the Oilers in an intense Battle of Alberta.
