Thunder Thursday: Thunder Finish Strong

The Adirondack Thunder finish the Regular Season with 2 convincing blow-outs

The Adirondack Thunder (Calgary Flames affiliate) closed the Regular Season on a very high note. The Thunder won their last two games of the season, outscoring the Elmira Jackals by a combined score of 12-1.

Friday night, the Thunder won 7-1 and got scoring from Brett Pollock and Dennis Kravchenko, each with 2 goals and Patch Alber, Gunnar Hughes and Brock Montgomery each with 1 goal. Cameron Brown and James Henry each had 3 assists, Brian Ward had 2 assists and Alex Wall, Christopher Dienes, Ryan Culkin, Roman Dyukov and Dennis Kravchenko each had 1 assist. J.P. Anderson stopped 18 of 19 shots for the win. In picking up this win, the Thunder officially clinched the North Division.

Saturday, the Thunder shut-out the Jackals 5-0 in the final game of the season. Austin Orszulak scored 2 goals and Brian Ward, Gunnar Hughes and Dennis Kravchenko each scored 1 goal. Patch Alber, Alex Wall, Cullen Bradshaw, Cameron Brown, Roman Dyukov, Brian Ward, Gunnar Hughes, J.C. Campagna and Brandon Baddock each had 1 assist. Drew Fielding stopped all 32 shots he faced.

Peter MacArthur led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 39 assists for 63 points in 63 games (29th in ECHL scoring) followed by James Henry with 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points in 65 games.

Goalie J.P. Anderson is led the team in wins with 19 (15th in the ECHL) followed by Mason McDonald with 13 wins. Anderson led the team with a goals against average of 2.47 (4th in the ECHL). Anderson leads the team with a 0.918 save percentage.

The Thunder finished the season 1st in the North Division (2nd in the Eastern Conference), with a record of 41 wins, 20 losses, 7 overtime losses and 4 shootout losses.

The Thunder will now open the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a best-of-seven game series against the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings affiliate). Game #1 goes Friday at 7:00pm EST (5:00pm MST).
