New York Islanders at Calgary Flames [Game 66]

The Calgary Flames took a little a little longer than fans would have liked to take down the woeful Detroit Red Wings on Friday, but ultimately they came away with the ROW winner in overtime to take the game by a score of three to two. The New York Islanders should prove to be a tougher opponent tonight as they currently sit in the second wild card spot in the east with 71 points in 63 games. The puck drops at 2:00 P.M. M.S.T.

Tonight’s lineup will look the same for the Flames – with victories in six straight games, there’s no reason to shuffle the lineup around. Freddie Hamilton and Dennis Wideman continue to be healthy scratches (as is warranted) and newcomer Curtis Lazar will have to wait to see his first action as a Flame. He’s still listed as day-to-day.

Some thought that Chad Johnson might take the helm against his former team, but that is not the case tonight – Brian Elliott gets the start. He’ll go up against a guy who is suddenly one of the better starters in the N.H.L. in Thomas Greiss. Greiss finds himself sitting at seventh in the league in adjusted Fenwick save percentage in five-on-five situations after being a career backup making this one of the tougher goaltending matchups the Flames will have in recent games.
