Los Angeles Kings at Calgary Flames [Game 72]

Plenty of implications for this one

The Calgary flames take back to the Saddledome looking to win two straight as they take on the Los Angeles Kings. A win tonight would put them back ahead of the Edmonton Oilers in the standings and would increase their margin over the Kings in the standings (though with a nine point margin over them, the chances of the Kings catching the Flames are slim). They can also expand their margins on the St. Louis Blues and Nashville Predators who are deadlocked for the third spot in the Central and second wild card spot. They can potentially work on catching up to the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks as well – the division is still pretty open.

Micheal Ferland may or may not have the Mumps, so the rumours that it may be going around when Brian Elliott was out were true. Curtis Lazar makes his long awaited debut on the fourth line while Alex Chiasson rejoins Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. Freddie Hamilton and Dennis Wideman are healthy scratches.

Brian Elliott is back in net with Chad Johnson backing him up. They’ll face off against an unknown goalie – the Kings have yet to announce who will start. Jonathan Quick has been the better of the two, but he’s played in just eight games. Goaltending hasn’t been the Kings problem this year anyway, they just can’t score.
