What Have The Kansas City Mavericks Been Up To?

The Mavs have played 5 games since we last looked in on them and they have cooled off a touch as the season has progressed. KC has gone 2-3-0-0 since our last visit and are hovering 1 game over .500 in the Central Division.

Tyler Parsons has had a rough go of it lately, going 1-3-0 in the Mavericks last 4 games. He’s seen his GAA drop from 3.15 to 3.07, but his Save% has dropped from .949 to .907. While goaltending seems to be an issue lately, goal scoring is down a bit too. KC has only averaged 2.8 GPG, scoring only 14 times in 5 games.

While the goal scoring has been off it isn’t all bad news. Forward Mike McMurtry is 4th in the league in scoring with 29 points (13G 16A). His totals have increased by 10 points, making him a 2 point a game player since December 1st. Caleb Herbert currently leads the ECHL in points with 33, so like the team, McMurtry isn’t that far off the lead pace.

The Mavs are in 4th place right now, 5 points behind the red hot Toledo Walleye, but rising to the top of the division isn’t unimaginable. A minuscule 2 points separates places 2-4 in the Central and a small winning streak could easily put the Mavs within striking distance of Toledo.
