The Calgary Flames are on the mitten as they take on the Detroit Red Wings for the first time ever at the Little Caesar’s arena. Detroit’s new home has garnered terrific reviews and teams such as the Flames and the New York Islanders are working hard to come up with a stadium as glorious as the pizza box. Unfortunately for the Red Wings, the new stadium is one of a select few thing that’s stellar for them at the moment.

Detroit currently comes in with a team that’s quite sub-par offensively. That bodes well for the Flames who lost Mike Smith with a lower body injury against the St. Louis Blues. The Flames will turn to Eddie Lack in tonight’s contest with Jon Gillies backing him up.

The biggest strength for this Detroit team so far this year has been their sound goaltending. Combine that with the Flames substandard luck when it comes to shooting the puck and this could be a very frustrating game for Calgary. While the shooting percentage should turn around eventually, tonight's game doesn't propose the biggest opportunity for doing so.
