The Calgary Inferno came back from the holiday break and picked up right where they left off racking up two more wins and another Player of the Month award.

Forward Bailey Bram from Ste. Anne, Manitoba is currently 2nd in team scoring, one point behind Brianne Jenner. Bram has just been named the Gongshow CWHL Player of the Month for December. She scored both opening goals against the Furies last month as well as a game winning goal. Bram was also named first Star of the game three times in December. She joins teammates Brianne Jenner who was the November Player of the Month and Jill Saulnier who was the October Player of the Month for an Inferno clean sweep so far.

There was also some hockey played over the weekend as the Calgary Inferno took on the Brampton Thunder at home in Calgary. Saturday’s game was a great back and forth battle with Blayre Turnbull opening the scoring for the Inferno 11:29 into the 1st period. Assists went to Brianne Jenner and Delayne Brian. Brampton tied the game 1-1 just over a minute into the 2nd period. Then at 6:39 of the 2nd period, Bailey Bram scored from Rebecca Johnston and Erica Kromm to make it 2-1. Brampton tied the game again just over a minute later. A minute after that, Iya Gavrilova gave the Inferno the lead once again scoring the 3-2 go-ahead goal, assisted by Brianne Jenner and Meaghan Mikkelson. Brampton would tie the game again at 12:05 of the 2nd period to make it 3-3. At 14:06 of the 3rd period, Iya Gavrilova scored her 2nd of the game, and game-winner on the power-play, with assists going to Rebecca Johnston and Bailey Bram. Delayne Brian stopped 26 of 29 shots for her 6th win of the season.

Sunday’s game was a little more one-sided. Brampton opened the scoring just 2:34 into the game, but that’s all the scoring they would produce. Hayleigh Cudmore evened the score for the Inferno at 3:21 of the 2nd period with assists from Brianne Jenner and Brittany Esposito. Rebecca Johnston scored the game-winner on the power-play 7:14 into the 3rd period, assisted by Iya Gavrilova. The Gavrilova scored herself at the 18:14 mark of the 3rd from Meaghan Mikkelson and Bailey Bram to make it a 3-1 game. Jessica Campbell capped off the scoring with three seconds left in the game to make it a 4-1 final. Genevieve Lacasse stopped 26 of 27 shots for her 5th win of the season.

The Inferno now have 14 wins and 2 losses after 16 games this season and are in 1st place in the CWHL with 28 points.

Brianne Jenner is leading the team scoring with 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 12 games (5th in CWHL). Bailey Bram is 2nd in team scoring with 9 goals and 6 assists for 15 points in 14 games (6th in CWHL).

Goaltender Delayne Brian leads the team with 6 wins (2nd in the CWHL). Genevieve Lacasse leads the team with a 1.60 goals against average (2nd in the CWHL). Emerance Maschmeyer leads the team with a save percentage of 0.941 (1st in the CWHL).

The Inferno now head to Montreal for a two-game set against Les Canadiennes Montreal. Game times are Saturday, January 14th @ 7:30pm EST/5:30pm MST and Sunday, January 15th @ 1:30pm EST/11:30pm MST.
