The Flames and Canucks will lock horns for the first time this year with a preseason tilt at the Dome on Friday night. Calgary comes into this game with a record of 1-2, having dropped a split squad set to Edmonton (4-2, 2-1) and beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-0. On the other side, the Canucks come into this first meeting with a preseason record of 1-0-1. Vancouver dropped their opener to the San Jose Sharks 3-2 in OT and managed to drop a nickle on the Oilers with a 5-3 win on Wednesday night.
Both the Flames and Canucks are looking get out of the Western Conference basement respectively. Calgary (77) was marginally better last season as they finished 2 points ahead of the Canucks (75) who barely edged out the Oilers to avoid last place.
