As was expected in the first gap between the preseason games, the Flames trimmed their camp roster today by 11 players bringing the camp total down to 49.
The Flames sent 8 players to Stockton of the AHL, while returning 3 to the CHL. The list of players is as follows:
Stockton:
- C Mikkel Aagaard
- C Mike Angelidis
- C Matt Bailey
- LW Jamie Devane
- D Stepan Falkovsky
- D Keegan Kanzig
- G Mason McDonald
- RW Brett Pollock
CHL Assignments:
- D Riley Bruce (North Bay Battalion/OHL)
- C Dillon Dube (Kelowna Rockets/WHL)
- RW Eetu Tuulola (Everett Silvertips/WHL)
No real surprises on the cuts here, although you would’ve liked to have seen Mason McDonald stick around a little longer after being drafted in the 2nd round a few years ago. However, he didn’t look great in the young stars tournament or the preseason which played into him being cut.
Calgary has 49 players left at camp with 5 goalies, 17 defencemen, and 27 forwards.
The Flames take on the Canucks on Friday at 7pm at the Dome.
