Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames, Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Alberta, 7PM MT
Calgary Flames @ Edmonton Oilers, Rogers Place, Edmonton, Alberta, 7PM MT
Games will be streamed at the Flames website
You’re not seeing things, the Flames and Oilers will take to the ice tonight for a split squad game to open up their respective training camps. The last time these two faced off, Calgary ruined the closing of Rexall Place with a 5-0 beat down of the Oilers. The stakes aren’t as high tonight, but it is the Oilers and Flames, so it should be entertaining. Each team will play one game at home and one on the road with the remaining non game players having practice that afternoon. There really isn’t much to preview seeing this is the first time each team will take the ice this season in a game type situation. Here's the projected lineup for the game in Edmonton:
FORWARDS
Lance Bouma - Freddie Hamilton - Michael Ferland
Chris Higgins - Linden Vey - Emile Poirier
Brett Pollock - Matt Bailey - Garnet Hathaway
Lauri Korpikoski - Mark Jankowski - Matt Frattin
DEFENCEMEN

Brett Kulak - Rasmus Andersson
Nicklas Grossman - Kenney Morrison
GOALTENDERS

There are a few noticeable absences for the Flames in this lineup and the yet to be released lineup for the game in Calgary.. Mikael Backlund is out nursing a concussion he received during the World Cup of Hockey. Sean Monahan tweeked his back and has been limited. Jyrki Jokipakka will get some time off after playing in Toronto at the World Cup of Hockey and Johnny Gaudreau and Jakub Nakladal both remain without contracts heading into camp.
