BREAKING NEWS: Sean Monahan Backs Out of Worlds

Calgary Flames Forward Sean Monahan has backed out of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey

Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving has announced that newly-signed Forward Sean Monahan has sustained a back strain during training and has been forced to back out of the World Cup of Hockey later this month.

Monahan, who just signed a 7-year contract extension worth $44.6 million, will be replaced by Florida Panthers Forward Vincent Trocheck on the Team North America roster.

The injury is not believed to be a long-term injury and that Monahan will be a full participant in training camp.
