Adam Ollas Mattsson is a large (6’4) defenceman that the Flames drafted late 2 years ago. Mattsson plays overseas and there’s little to no video available of him playing, but he does get good reviews from those within the industry. Pro Hockey IQ has this to say about the young Swed:
“A large defensive minded defenseman. Ollas Mattsson plays a fairly simple and smart game, using his great reach to his advantage. Is a consistent player who will be mostly recognized for his solid defensive play in the future. (EP 2014)”
Mattsson will probably slot as a project player for now for the Flames. He’s still young and raw and his only major international exposure was playing for Sweden’s U20 team. He played 14 games and collected 2 points, but was a +7.
