Flames Fire Bob Hartley

Bruce Boudreau Incoming?

Bob Hartley has been fired as the head coach of the Calgary Flames. The organization had said that it would look at Hartley’s status sometime this week as they evaluated their options. They ultimately decided that this was the best one.

Hartley had a limited run of success last season which saw the Flames make the playoffs. Other than that, they had been picking in the bottom five of the draft during his tenure, a mark that most teams would not want to see. In addition to that the team's underlying metrics were rather concerning to stat heads.

Hartley also made questionable roster decisions at times. His decisions to move individuals such as Lance Bouma and Joe Colborne up in the lineup saw them put up points, though they aren’t really suited for those rolls. There’s also the baffling decision to give Deryk Engelland more minutes than Dougie Hamilton on some nights.

With Bruce Boudreau getting fired, many have speculated that he will be the next coach. That's speculation fans will have to wait on. For now, Calgary remains without a coach which may be a better option than the guy they had behind the Bench.
