Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames [Game #81 Thread]

Last home game

The last home game of the Calgary Flames disappointing season is upon us as they take on the Vancouver Canucks. This game is only good for draft status and it would actually behoove the Flames to lose this game which would at the very least propel the Canucks ahead of them in the standings. It would also keep them behind the Jets and would give the Blue Jackets a chances to pass them in the standings.

Joni Ortio will be in net for the Flames tonight. The Flames goaltending has been their number one problem this season and Ortio’s last game shows why. He has small flashes of brilliance, but has been just one of the flames four underwhelming to outright horrid goalies this season. Whomever Treliving decides to target this offseason, it is almost certain that they’ll be better than what Calgary put out this year on any given night.

Opposite Ortio will be Ryan Miller. Miller is hardly astounding in his own right anymore, though he’s still capable of those few moments of brilliance and is better than anything the Flames have to offer (though that contract is horrible). If the Flames can touch him up a bit, they have a chance of winning this game.

Drew Shore will play tonight in replace of the injured Lance Bouma. Bouma is out for the season with an oblique injury. Shore-ly Shore will look to shore up the flames forward lines in an attempt to enshore himself a chance a roster spot next year.
