Raphael Diaz has been recalled by the NY Rangers, as reported by Sportsnet.

Diaz is a former Calgary Flames defenseman who tried out at training camp in 2014 and was subsequently signed to a one-year contract. While playing with the Flames, Diaz earned 2 goals and 2 assists in 56 games.

He was signed by the New York Rangers the following year as a free agent. He's been playing for the Rangers AHL team, the Hartford Wolf Pack and has notched 6 goals and 15 assists for the farm team in 37 games.

During his 2016-2017 season, Diaz has signed on to play in Switzerland for the EV Zug, which is where his hockey career began in 2003.

He's got amazing skating skills and he's an understated presence in front of his own net. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens and also played for the Vancouver Canucks before making his way to the Flames training camp.
