Fan Favorite Moment 2015-16: Sam Bennett's 1st Period Hat Trick vs The Panthers

Sam Bennett lit Roberto Luongo and the Panthers up for 4 goals, 3 in the 1st period.

While this season had many frustrating and disheartening moments, there were some great things that happened for the Flames. My favorite came on Wednesday, January 13th, as the Flames completely white washed the Florida Panthers 6-0.

Sam Bennett came into that game mired in a SLUMP. He hadn't scored a goal in 17 games before finally netting one against the Sharks on January 11th. Then the Panthers came to town and, well, they proved to be the elixir Bennett needed. By the time the first 20 minutes was up, Sam Bennett already had a hat trick. The 19 year old buried the puck in the net at 00:56, 12:01 and 17:01 and at the same time got Roberto Luongo the hook for the night after just one period. As if that scoring barrage wasn't enough, Bennett took a feed from Jiri Hudler and added #4 for the evening near the end of the third. Slump officially busted. Oh, and I wrote this a mere 10 days before Sam Bennett's goal outburst.

In case you'd forgotten about it, here's the highlights from that game:

And THAT is my Fan Favorite Moment from the 2015-16 Calgary Flames season.
