(Stats from the Flames website.)

In his last 8 games Sean Monahan has scored 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points. Last week he scored 5 goals which equaled the goal total of the Montreal Canadiens over a one week span. Monahan is averaging around 17 minutes of ice time per game and about 3-4 shots on goal per game and boasts a shooting percentage around 56.7%.

According to the Flames website, this season Sean has appeared in 73 games and has 26 goals and 30 assists for 56 points and currently sits in 2nd place in team scoring behind Johnny Gaudreau at 72 points. It's only fitting that they are both leading the team since they are linemates who have unreal chemistry.

Monahan's contract is currently being negotiated as reported in an earlier article (Future of The Flames) as is the contract of his chemistry partner Gaudreau. While Assistant GM Craig Conroy says one of the team's top priorities is signing Monahan along with Gaudreau and doesn't see a problem getting the deal done, Sean is happy letting his play do the negotiating, as was explained in Gaudreau, Monahan want to play together ‘for the next 10 years' on Sportsnet.ca:

"I think the way you play, that's your negotiation right there. I think obviously I just stick to my game and try and do my best and lead by example." -Sean Monahan

No matter what the outcome of the contract negotiations, I think most Calgary Flames fans can agree that we like what we see from Monahan so far and we look forward to watching him and Johnny play together for the next few years at least.
