The Calgary Flames announced today that 24 year old Freddie Hamilton, older brother of Dougie Hamilton, has been called up from the Stockton Heat on an emergency basis.

Freddie Hamilton, the 6'1" 196lb center, has had a productive time in Stockton, earning 16 goals and 19 assists (35 points) in 53 games.

Drafted by the San Jose Sharks in 2010, Hamilton played 12 games with the Sharks before moving on to play 17 games with the Colorado Avalanche.

With Karri Ramo, Ladislav Smid, Sam Bennett, and T.J. Brodie on the injured list, it’s no surprise that the Flames are using some of their emergency call-ups. As they did two years ago, it seems a good time to try out some of their AHLers to end this year in light of the fact that the Flames will not be making playoffs this season.

UPDATE: Freddie Hamilton is now considered a game-time decision.
