Gamethread: Calgary Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

Will tonight be the night the Flames break the curse?

Not only have the Flames consistently lost to the Ducks in Anaheim for over ten years, they’ve dropped every matchup against Anaheim this season. Not once have the Flames won against the Ducks in the 2015-2016 season. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that tonight’s game is a must-win, in spite of the odds being against us.

Ladislav Smid is out with an injury as well as Kris Russell. Jakub Nakladal and Tyler Wotherspoon take their places on the blue line. Because Karri Ramo is lost for the season, Jonas Hiller gets another start in net tonight while Joni Ortio will play backup.

Sam Bennett will continue at center between Josh Jooris and Michael Ferland, which was definitely a good decision made by coach Bob Hartley. The Joe Colborne, Mikael Backlund, Michael Frolik line seems to have found their groove and will hopefully add some much-needed offense to team again tonight. And, up front, as always are three that seem to have the most chemistry, Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Jiri Hudler.

Defending the blue line are Mark Giordano and T.J. Brodie, Deryk Engelland and Dougie Hamilton, and Jakub Nakladal and Tyler Wotherspoon.

All the information on projected lineups can be found on the Flames website, but, as noted, the lines could change at game time.

And don't forget to come back during each intermission to read up on our summaries in the comments section.
